Question by wsdmskr825: How much does a personalized autograph differ in value from a nondescript one?
I have many autographs in my collection, most sports related. I have Wilt Chamberlain on a NBA basketball and Michael Jordan on a copy of the original Nike Jordan 8×10. The thing is, they’re all autographed to me personally. I’m not looking to sell them, I’m just curious. I’ve seen Wilt Chamberlain ball valued at thousands of dollars, same with Jordan. Are mine worth thousands? They’re all in excellent condition, clearly legible, and protected. Well, except for the Wilt ball, that’s just up on top of my closet. They’re just all autographed to me personally.

Question by injuried: What is the best book to buy to find out how much sports cards are worth….?
…I am looking for a well rounded book that
covers baseball, basketball, football, and hockey. Are there any books that I can buy that covers all of those? Or do I have to buy separate books for each? Some of them are autographed, some of them are not. I am just wanting to know how much I can actually sell my husbands cards for !!! hehehehe just kidding

Answer by Sasorikiller Determining the value of an autographed item is easy, look for an something signed by the person from various markets and find the average of those prices. Then look for something unsigned but something they would normally sign by the person and find the average of those prices. Then subtract the unsigned from the signed averages and you will have the basic autograph value of that person. You will almost always have to purchase individual sports cards books. I suggest using Beckett card guides. beckett.com . Finding the value of individual cards can be tricky, so large online databases like beckett’s will almost always work. Unless your husband’s collection was passed down to him the average price of each of his cards would be something around 50 cents to 5 dollars. Do not go by this though, certain cards can be worth 50 to 300 dollars from the 70s and 80s. Autographed items are my specialty, so if you need help with that gimme an email at sasorikiller@yahoo.com. It is best if you think a card is worth something that you try to preserve it and determine its value. Determining a card’s value greatly depends upon the card’s condition. Try to learn how to determine a card’s condition on your own.

Answer by Softman25 I’m not trying to be a smart-arse here, but google is your friend in this case. In my opinion, there really isn’t a definitive book like this, since rarity and therefore price fluctuates dramatically, making the book as worthless as ever,
Internet is best here, since the internet gets updated as frequently as…well…lets just say often! =P

Question by billtheboxkicker: how do I find sports collectables prices for free or not much on the internet ?
I have many collectables. None are priced. None are normal. A few autographed bats, Barry Bonds and such, most are autographed team shots, field photos and such.
It doesn’t even have to be net related I just don’t want to get hosed by a local jerk.
