Question by : Best DPI and File Type for scanning SPORT CARDS?
I was wondering what the best DPI Resolution and File Format/Type would be for scanning sports cards like autographs and jersey cards. THANKS!
Could you explain why .JPG is best? Thanks
Also seeing the card is much smaller than the space on the scanner, how can I have it automatically remove all the white around the card so I do not have the edit every scan?
Best answer:
Answer by SunDancer 96dpi or 300dpi .JPG
.JPG because they’re smaller in file size and the standard for photos that aren’t intended to be further manipulated or edited.
See if you have a cropping option in the scan program. Try making a marquee (box) around the card/image area and look for the crop tool. It may be an icon resembling a horizontal and vertical ruler. Or make the marquee and click the preview button. That should isolate the area you want scanned. Depending on your scan program, the marquee may stay in the same position and size as the last scan for the next.

The paintress Heinke Böhnert could be watched doing pictures on wind, water, waves and sails. Then autographed prints were distributed by the tanned sailors and the paintress (right).

Question by Stephanie: Where do I get a Sport Autograph appraised?
We recently moved into a historic home and I had my daughters clean out a closet that had a small storage space in the back and it looked like no one had been in there for years. But to make a long story short my oldest daughter found an old notebook dating back to 1954 along with a 5×7 autographed Mickey Mantle photo and I have searched all over the web for the same picture and it doesnt seem to exist and the autograph looks original. Where should I get this appraised?
